Originally recorded with my old band Moonglue. This was largely recorded and mixed in Japan via correspondence with Shawn Arnold and Spiro Noutsatos, with additional violin by Rika Aoki.

It was the alcohol-fuelled lockdown of 2020, and Japanese teachers foreign or otherwise were ordained to stay inside and work from home.
This was recorded in a very transitionary time of my life. It shared a lot of time with Unorthopop, but was created in a completely different vein. I committed to record a version myself I think I was ready to leave behind. It is a confused painting I don't like to glance at, and a striving effort to be someone I'm not.

These songs, like Unorthopop, are unfinished, but they were close to done. Some of the vocal performances I am very uncomfortable with. However,it was at this point in my mixing career I had learned to slow down and listen to balance, bass, lightness and dark. I am very happy with how most of this is mixed, and I am so surprised it came out as well as it did given the sparse equipment I had in Japan.

By the time I returned from Japan, I was a different person, and it felt wrong to push this to completion despite the hours poured into it.

Best of all is the winning artwork by Taliesen Fox-Henry. What a cover! I was so pleased when I received the finished piece, I couldn't believe how quickly and appropriately he nailed the artwork. I'm not sure I deserve it!!

Well, after all, there is a part of me that really likes sections and songs from this one. I hope you enjoy something in it too. Until next time!
